Dr. Thomas C. Redman, known as “The Data Doc,” is the President of Data Quality Solutions and a globally recognized authority on data strategy, quality, and analytics. With a rare ability to blend visionary insight with deep technical expertise, Tom helps leaders and organizations navigate the complexities of the modern data landscape. He empowers companies—from startups to Fortune 500 giants—and professionals—from C-suite executives to frontline teams—to unlock the full potential of their data, build robust data-driven cultures, and turn data into a competitive advantage.

Tom is widely regarded as the world’s most passionate and influential advocate for data quality. His groundbreaking Harvard Business Review article, “Data’s Credibility Problem” (December 2013), exposed the critical challenges organizations face with data trust and integrity. His book Getting in Front on Data (Technics, 2016) provided a roadmap for building the organizational capabilities needed to drive meaningful data improvements. In collaboration with Ron Kenett, he co-authored The Real Work of Data Science (Wiley, 2019), offering data scientists practical guidance to maximize their impact. His foundational work, Data Driven (Harvard Business School Press, 2008), remains a cornerstone in the field, defining how organizations can harness data as a strategic asset.

More recently, Tom has championed the transformative power of “people and data.” He argues that when people engage with data in the right ways, they can achieve extraordinary results—but too often, organizations overlook or even undermine the human element. Tom advocates for a collaborative approach, treating data as a team sport that involves everyone. His clients are already putting these principles into action, with remarkable success. His latest book, People and Data (Kogan Page, 2023), synthesizes these ideas into a compelling framework for organizations to foster a culture where people and data thrive together.

A prolific thought leader, Tom has written influential articles for Harvard Business Review and MIT Sloan Management Review. He continues to shape the future of data strategy, helping organizations and individuals turn data into action, insight, and lasting value.
